Each year Annerley Junction Fest brings you amazing local musicians that are carefully chosen to ensure the festival’s atmosphere is perfect for a great day out for the whole family.

We are proud to announce the amazing performances that you will experience at the 2024 festival on October 12.

Larrikin Puppets

Entertaining and captivating, Larrikin Puppets perform colourful, fast-paced, feel-good puppet shows for children and family audiences.

Troggg, Marina, Frizzby and Flossy celebrate fun, joy, love, kindness, peace and diversity while nurturing child development, encouraging audiences to talk, dance, sing and play along.

This will be a festival highlight for the whole family!

Listen Up!

ANNOUNCING QUEENSLAND’S NEWEST AND MOST DYNAMIC SOUND IN SKA-JAZZ

Boasting a five piece horn section, Listen Up! features an explosive mix of brass, guitar, bass, drums and keys to bring you the best of Euro Ska-Jazz. 

Looking to the European Ska scene for inspiration, our nine-piece big band combines elements of the Ska and Jazz genres to create a sound that’s uniquely our own. 

With a talented lineup drawn from Brisbane’s best Ska musicians, including a powerhouse horn section and rhythm section engine room that never misses a beat, we bring a fresh and exciting energy not previously heard live in Australia.

So come join us and be a part of the Ska revolution in Brisbane. We can’t wait to see you on the dance floor!

Whalehouse

Loud, undeniable and ferocious WHALEHOUSE, (that’s one word, that’s all capital letters) are a six-legged trio of new wave-inspired, punk fiends who quickly pricked ears and turned heads upon inception. They’ve garnered attention for their energetic and ferocious live shows and have a reputation for leaving punters dazed and in a sweaty frenzy at the end of each set. With sounds inspired by Devo, The B-52’s, and The Beastie Boys resulting in a giant that smashes riot grrl with New Wave, a hulking frame of a house led by the screeching power of a mighty whale.

Sellma Soul

We are lucky to have them back for another amazing year of fun and fashion.

Since blowing the judges away on The Voice Australia, Sellma Soul has risen to be one of the most important performers in Australia.

Sellma has hosted the Fashion Parade for Annerley Junction Fest since 2022 and is a real crowd favourite.

The Phosphenes

The Phosphenes are a Caboolture based dynamic indie alt rock band with roots deeply embedded in alternative rock, garage rock, grunge and post-punk influences. 

The band’s sound is a captivating blend of raw energy and thoughtful lyricism fusing garage rock, punk, grunge and power pop to create their own unique style of music they call “New 90’s”.

Since their formation in February 2022, The Phosphenes have been making waves, gaining recognition for their distinctive sound and tight-knit musicianship. From intimate venues to larger stages, this trio continues to leave an indelible mark on the music landscape, embodying the essence of Brisbane’s diverse musical spirit.

Music

In December 2022, The Phosphenes recorded their debut EP titled “Loose,” which quickly garnered attention for its raw energy and emotive lyrics. The EP showcases the band’s ability to craft songs that resonate with listeners on a deep level, exploring themes of self-discovery and personal growth, and bringing back the old school garage rock vibe.

They returned to the studio in late 2023 to record their next EP and have released new music in early 2024 with more to come throughout the year, culminating in the release of their sophomore EP “Cletus” in August.

The Faders

A brand new high-energy rock band from Brisbane. 

Original music, featuring fast chord changes and even faster lead guitar. 

Our interpretation of alternative and indie rock sets us apart from other bands in the scene and our punchy, tight sound keeps people moving.

Annabel Scott

Annabel (Annie) Scott is a local singer-songwriter. Annie is in grade 5 at Dutton Park State school. Annie has won two national song writing competitions, numerous school awards and last year played at Laura Street Festival in Highgate Hill.

She plays the Uke, Guitar, a little keys and has recently started learning the Sax. She plays a mix of covers and originals.

Annie’s music influences are wide and varied including Kate Miller-Heidke, Vance Joy, The White Stripes to name but a few.

Free Solo

Meet Free Solo, a dynamic four-piece indie rock band drawing inspiration from legends like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Pixies, and Arctic Monkeys. Free Solo delivers electrifying performances packed with epic solos that showcase their raw talent and passion for rock. Newly formed and already making waves, they’re bringing their high-energy covers to the Off The Beaten Track stage at Annerley Junction Fest on October 12. Don’t miss the chance to see these rising stars light up the stage!

Deaf Hamsters

Formed in Brisbane in 2022, Deaf Hamsters is a dynamic Colombian-Australian rock band. The group was founded by Colombian musician Milton Arandia, who brought together his most talented students to create a unique sound that blends cultures and languages.

Their repertoire features an eclectic mix of rock classics in both English and Spanish.

The band is fronted by Juan Arandia, who delivers powerful vocals and lead guitar performances. The rhythm section is anchored by Australian siblings Renata and Santiago Gonzalez, who bring their Mexican heritage to the bass and drums, respectively. The band’s sound is further enriched by the recent addition of Hunter Jeanes on keys.
