The Annerley Junction Fest
Origin Story…
Junction Fest began in 2012 when Kath Chown from Handmade High Street teamed up with local businesses to create a community event promoting Annerley Junction. What started as a simple “Fair Day” with shopfront stalls grew into an annual tradition celebrating local culture, creativity, and connection.
Over the years, the festival evolved from the Annerley Fair to Junction Jumble, and finally to Junction Fest. With support from Community Plus from 2014, and a dedicated committee since 2018, the event has expanded across Annerley.
After a brief pause during COVID, it returned bigger than ever in 2022. Now held every October, the festival brings the community together with live entertainment, food, stalls, a local art show, fashion parades, kids’ activities, and much more.
OUR MISSION
Junction Fest is a not for profit, volunteer based annual event that aims to:
1. promote the diversity of our community.
2. foster a welcoming and inclusive neighbourhood.
3. nurture and celebrate the creativity of our local residents.
4. encourage a safe, sustainable and liveable community.
5. bring people together.
Diversity and Inclusion
As a committee we are very focussed on ensuring our festival is both inclusive and representative of our diverse community.
Our festival is a safe, welcoming and inclusive event that recognises and celebrates all members of our community.
To ensure our festival is accessible to all members of our local community we have undertaken a number of inclusive initiatives including:
⁃ Disability accessible toilets
⁃ Assistance Dog friendly event
⁃ Designated quiet spaces
⁃ Festival information available in Braille
⁃ Seating available
⁃ Level access and step free access to precincts
We are always looking for more ways we can make sure our festival is accessible and welcoming of our diverse community.
